Google XML Sitemap Generator plug-in broken

I am experiencing the following problem with Google XML Sitemap Generator (v3.4.2). I know of at least one other person who is seeing similar results.

The Sitemap works fine if I retrieve it from wwwdomaindotcom/sitemap.xml, but fails if I try to get it from domaindotcom/sitemap.xml

Google Chrome fails silently.

IE 8.0.6001 fails with the following error: Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet.

Firefox (v 3.6.10) fails with the following error: Error loading stylesheet: An unknown error has occurred (805303f4) wwwdomaindotcom/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap.xsl

I'm trying to figure out what is wrong (and maybe even fix the problem). More data would help.

If you use this plug-in and wanna help

1) Does your WP installation redirect to your domain with or without the WWW?

2) Does your sitemap.xml work with the WWW?

3) Does your sitemap.xml work without the WWW?

Of course, if you know what's wrong - that would be greatly appreciated as well :)

I've found that this plugin acts screwy when I use it on a multi-site enabled WP installation.

Is this for a normal WP installation or is it on a WP multi-site enabled install?
 
I've got a problem with XML sitemap too. It has worked but on my admin panel page, nothing shows up. Yet SEO Quake says a sitemap has been submitted (so I'm not too bothered). I deactivated/uninstalled-reinstalled and same thing.

I'd like to know a pro's thinking on this too.
 
works for me . using Version 3.2.4 on wordpress 3.01

using htaccess to rewrite to nonwww
chrome sees the sitemap fine with or without www

Ah, maybe we are just missing something or forwarding wrong.

Would it be possible to cut-n-paste your htaccess contents so we can compare?
 
For me it works the other way around i.e. without the 'www.'

However, that's how I like to promote my url and in the WP Panel General settings, I have provided both the WP Address and the Site Address as being without the 'www'

I only noticed this anomaly because I was having a few problems uploading a site map to Google's Web Master Tools when I entered the url with the 'www.' Without it, the site map uploaded fine.

My site does automatically re-direct for posts if 'www' is entered, so am not sure why it's not doing so for the site map.

(Replace (dot) by . and (//) by //)
 
I think its because WP only uses permalinks to redirect its own directories,pages,posts etc. anything like a sitemap or your robots txt will not get redirected by WP as it was not created by WP. so you need to use your .htaccess.
