Interesting. This website was in Top 10 for terms like "make money online" a few years back. Author is famous Grizzly Brears, who posted a lot of free tutorials for beginners in SEO on this blog. I was initially interested in SEO because of his inspiring articles. He often ridiculed Google how easy they can be manipulated, giving excellent examples with screenshots, promoted doing everything manually, original SEO optimized but boring content (so that visitors would click on advertisements), blog networks, disclosed his Adsense earnings (tens of thousands $ a month).
His blog was very popular, with hundreds of posts (every post with minimum 100 comments) and it lasted for a few years. Finally, he said that his blogs took a hit and he suspected he maybe became a target from someone in Google, because of his popularity and ideas he promoted, so he went underground with his operations, SEO tutorials and "how to" articles and deleted contents of the blog.
There are enormous amount of optimized backlinks to his blog created continually for years, so maybe that in combination with fuzzy new Google algorithm is a deciding factor for a "renaissance" in rankings.
