You have until Mar. 16 to verify your account. They want:

You need to verify your identity to continue serving ads. What you’ll need for verification:

Your organization's registration document:
Certificate of incorporation
Certificate of continuance, existence, or compliance
Certificate of good standing or status
A dated letter requesting verification for a government or public agency, written on official agency letterhead

An ID to verify it’s really you:
Driver License
Passport
National Identity Card
Residence Permit

I'm surprised they didn't do this earlier.

I also wouldn't be surprised if such platforms start asking for info in the future that would link ad accounts with bank/financial accounts.

I know, sounds crazy. Then the Patriot Act happened.
 
You were given weeks to verify your account but that does not mean all google adwords account need verification.

Is that new information? I have unverified Google accounts that have been active for a while but so far they are working fine

Same. Google requests verification on some accounts, but not on all of them (not sure what triggers the verification, any idea?)
 
Last month there was a banner at the top of the Adwords dashboard asking me to verify my account. Two days ago the banner changed and said unverified accounts will not be allowed to run ads after Mar. 16.

So it seems they're now enforcing the request instead of asking people to comply with it.
 
sudden influx of “i wanna fake kyc doc” requests incoming lol!

If there is any announcement to do they do before like 6 months or more but as far as there are none so i guess its for some countries not for all.
 
Does not apply to all accounts. It is a low hanging fruit approach. The better you set up the account for ads, the less likely you will be asked to verify. I get a verification request in 1 or 2 out of 10 accounts.
 
Was expecting them to do this earlier than now.

The client that I had to verify apparently had some history of not paying her ad spend, so not surprised google wanted extra info lol. Most of my accounts don't get this, idk.
