I just checked my WMT to find another site got the unnatural link message, this particular site is 11 years old and only started using private blog two months ago on this site, now this site will tank.

My point is, what to say I cant pick up my competitors site the first ten site and start building 100s of private blog post to them, am sure doing this will tank their site.

I dont know how google can allow this to happen, they open a negative seo to happen.

Fuck Google, am so pissed of with them.

Don't pick a competitor, mate. Try to rank "google.com" for "epic fail" instead.

I'm not sure Google is this dumb. I think they're taking away the link juice for these blog network links. You probably moved up the serps with them, now you'll go back to where you started.

If you start on a competitor it's already too late. They won't pass on any juice, if they do his site might rise for awhile and then fall back to where it was when you began blasting it.

I can't believe it would be that easy to tank a competitor. I imagine there are some clever people out there who would love to be able to prove you could do this. Imagine if Microsoft ran a case study and proved it was possible. Google would be right in the shit.

So blast away at your competitors, you'll be wasting your time which could be better spent building more quality links to your own site.

Hmmmm I wonder how they tie it in to you, they must somehow. I still can't believe we can spin crappy articles and get a competitor moved out to the bottom of 100 pages. Way too easy.

Were you using a paid network? I presume people wouldn't pay to blast competitors. Or maybe it was Google's dummy blog network, now they would get you that way.

Don't be stupid and say if my site is stronger enough, do you know how many people;s site on this forum got the dreadful message and have their site tanked, so they have a weak site too?

Besides am not saying am gonna sabotage my competitors, am just saying what to say someone out there couldnt, build the private blog post and get them tanked which am sure its possible.

Wanna give it ago? build blog post for whole full month and come back and tell me if you didnt receive a message from Big G

  8. The thing is though, who the hell is going to spend all that time and money to build hundreds of blog posts to their competition's site, on the off chance that they might be negatively effected by it. I understand that it is possible in theory, but the negative ramifications are massive, as you are more than likely helping them immensely in the long run.

Is a month or two in the sandbox really worth all that trouble? Not for me.

We've seen many case study here where people sabotage their competitors site, am up for showing my skills and giving my competitors the middle finger.

However Google has made this so easy to tank competitors website, go read thread about people getting the unnatural link message only few got their site back the rest are still tanked.

Negative SEO is a bad strategy. It's also a very scummy thing to do.

That being said, the effects will probably be temporary and who's to say in a few weeks time that your competitors will come back stronger from it?

Just concentrate your time on your own sites and improving your own ranking methods and knowledge. Always think of your long term benefits!

  11. I guess to each his own. I go about my business in a different way. I focus on building a strong foundation and growing my business, rather than destroying another.

You have it wrong.. Google is devaluing your backlinks.. Now depending on how many links you have from these these "networks" will depended weather you will be penalized or not.. But everyone and I mean everyone is loosing backlinks at this point, the only people who are not getting penalized are the ones who are not solely relying on one method for backlinks.

So basically sending these backlinks to your competitor will do very little to hurt them if they have good backlinking practices.

Not worth the time, effort and money to try and hurt one of your competitors.

Time better spent, improving your own site.

I recently received the same message you did and don't think I didn't think about doing the same thing you are talking about. I was pissed! My wife avoided me for like a week, she wanted nothing to do with me as I was in such a foul mood.

Your site can and will recover if you build more links and replace the ones that have been devalued. Spend your time doing this and you will see your site come back.

My site is starting to recover in the rankings. I got hit on Feb 17 and the last five weeks have been long as I have spent every waking minute trying to solve this problem.

I think it will probably take me another month or two to fully recover or come close to recovery.

There's a sticky somewhere making threatening gestures towards forum members that make posts on how to "sabotage" competitor's sites, but if what people are saying about Google's recent change is correct, popular opinion is going to make discussing and then implementing this strategic option something that cannot be ignored, or prevented. If/when someone posts saying "I did X,Y and Z blackhat methods and got my competitor sandboxed.", it will be all over for the "morally pure" blackhat marketers, ROFLMAO.

    Theoretically

They could put out honeypot sites to see who signs up for them

That could be traced back to an email related to a domain being seo'd, or to an ip address that is known to be connected to the site (ie login to analytics / webmaster tools)

I have for a long time suspected that they have public proxy honeypots in place to help reduce Adsense fraud, would be relatively easy to use them to track who's also using them for back link building

Sent from iPhone, excuse auto corrections I may have missed

I don't think am so clear in my post, am not saying I was gonna sabotage my competitors, I dont play that game.

What am saying is with the Google Webmaster Tools notice of detected unnatural links is opening a can of worm for negative seo and that's a fact.

It will only take me a week blast of 500 post on ALN and am sure the site will tank.

I hope google change this algorithm of unnatural link as it will come back and hunt them big time.

Karma's a *****, tanking a competitor might help you in the short run, but it's a vicious cycle. Just don't do it.

Also, I sure as heck hope you're wrong about "unnatural" links being detrimental to ranking. I always figured Google was smarter than that, there's just no way they can kill your rankings because of links, it makes it way too easy to sabotage.
