Hi

i was maintaining a site in WordPress where i show movies from youtube for that i used paid "tubepress" plugin & had put details of movies whenever possible. There were 2200 + posts in my web site. I continued this site more than one year in .info domain later added .net domain. After changing domain i got much traffic.

My traffic dropped last day suddenly & got an e mail from google mentioning

"As a result of your site having thin content with little or no added value, Google has applied a manual spam action to XXXXXXX . There may be other actions on your site or parts of your site. "

i am showing videos from youtube in my site like a gallery & have put content about each movie whenever possible.

what shall i do now? Can anyone help me sharing your experience & thoughts

Getting out of a manual penalty is really hard, though you can just try to delete the videos with no content and add more content to the videos that already have.

I would suggest to start over though.

Change your website content totally with the new, little re-design.
Request Google regarding this issue and by unknowingly I made this. Request them to remove the penalty.

But I don't think you can receive the same traffic like before.

It's quite hard to get out of a manual penalty. There are many people having their sites penalized by google, and most of the times they start over because the whole process takes a lot of time. You can try adding some more UNIQUE content on your site regarding the movies, maybe post 4-5 line reviews and change the outlook a bit, and then contact google about it. If you're lucky, you MIGHT get the penalty removed. It's worth a try. :)

Do not do anything before you submit a reconsideration request, explain to Google that despite your site is displaying Youtube videos you have added value to users by commenting on each of them or adding more information, stress the fact that there is lots of human efforts put behind the site (I am assuming this is true) give them few days/weeks to respond ... I do not recommend taking any actions until you hear from them

The only way this works is if you're lucky enough to get a reviewer who disagrees with the first one's opinion. That's extremely rare.

Find all the films on IMDB - there's usually a user review under all the info, just copy that for each film and rewrite it in your own way.

I am not sure if we can trust Google that all manual actions are really humanly generated ones (I know they keep saying they are)

What I asked him to do is based on a personal experience, however in my case the content was manually written and really good it was obviously a mistake by Google (human or machine) .. I agree with you in his case he needs some luck .. but a consideration request takes few minutes why not to give it a shot
