Sorry, very nubbish question. A few days ago i saw a thread somewhere on this forum and now i can't seem to be able to find it, incredibly the search engine doesn't give any results for toolkit, so no dice.
The thread went on about how some guy pinged both his websites and he was banned by google for having used the google web toolkit on bot sites? What's that about anyways? does google ban by ip? by ping? why do we have to use a google web toolkit for every website we create?

Are you referring to Webmaster Tools?

If someone is doing shady things, then yes, the Big G can smack all of the sites associated with the WT account, no matter if the other sites are legit or not.

You don't have to use WT on every site you create, but it does offer some very handy features (and some say it helps to increase ranking). By using WT and by simply submitting a good sitemap, I can usually get a brand new site indexed within an hour.

and what about pinging? in what cases is it considered spam, or splog or whatever and can it get u banned googly?

You're really only supposed to ping to let the services know that content on a site has changed. Pinging by itself usually won't get a site banned

If the website is a splog (or spam blog) it will usually get banned when a visitor from the search engine company comes and looks at the site manually, or if the site fails some checks by the spiders such as repeating a keyword over and over on a page.

Yes google will use Google analitics, adsense and web master tools to track your sites.

The things that you can not control, you not ban you,if ping can ban you site, just ping your competitors....

If you spam ping you will just get a ip ban.
