i have to agree..
if you play white hat, then you are destined to meet your end...

Been looking again at this update and for me the loss of rankings also coincided with the loss of backlinks at the same time. The red line on the ahrefs graph represents lost links. Strange that at the same time my site bombed as shown by analytics. Also has anyone else noticed that webmaster tools only go as far as the 4th of march at the moment. I havent been using any paid for links. Anyone think there is some connection here?

my site bombed last week also but in my case I can't confirm the ahrefs correlation you mentioned.

I read about Google Adwords thats updated majorly 4 days ago. Maybe that's a part of it.
Anyway we were due to a Panda update since it's been 7 weeks.
I also noticed my google webmaster didn't track my site from 03/03/13 till yesterday. So it went from 03/03 to 08/03 in 1 day.

According to this post, Google will be releasing Panda this coming Friday or Monday. Some link networks were targeted recently (some speculate SAPE) and another link network takedown is planned in the next week or two. Google will be releasing a major Penguin update in 2013 that will probably be the most talked about algorithm update Google does this year. It's an interesting read, but it is from Barry Schwartz. He's been wrong in the past, but he also does have a direct line of communication with Google. Take it for what its worth.

thanks for this update. but what updated on 6 march. Really, i build all only high quality links and links are around 25 only, each link put with very carefully.
my traffic drop 70%.
I hope, after panada update site will back. waiting for panda update now.
Many people already reports they get traffic back after 6th march hit.

Friend of mine with organic traffic to AdSense sites saw the same thing -- huge revenue hit on March 6th, now things relatively normal again. I wish Google would just hurry up and get this over with.

if this update is not about backlinks than maybe the keyword density has something to do with it? what do you guys think? any sites with a high keyword density that got hit?

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. The odd thing is that he did no major changes before and after this happened. I have a feeling Google is testing to get ready for the new release that's about to hit on Friday or Monday.
