Something weird. How can they play around so much with peoples living. This site is all hand written and took a long time to get in the top3...not its bombed. No spun content at all.

Dude I have a site like that. Over a period of two years I built it up to having dozens of handwritten pages of great content. It was #1 and #2 for years, then last year it dropped out of the first 300.
Sucks.
I have a big thread about it. Everything I did to try and recover my site made it worse. Adding more handwritten content? Dropped further. Remove AdSense from above the fold? Dropped further. Get a link from a big authority site? Drop even further.
This was like 8 months ago and it still hasn't recovered.

This really sucks. Be honest guys, is there any future for SEO? I just wanted to upload my adsense site next week but this news is discouraging. I don't want to spent hours and money on seo, linkbuilding, etc only to determine everything was a complete waste of time. What the hell does google want? Hope they will lose all its customers some day...

Of course there is a future in SEO, pretty much everything of mine is fine.
Google has won, to an extent, and they have successfully shaped the internet to their liking. They wanted to destory thin, badly written sites. They still exist, of course! But in far fewer numbers, if we're going to be honest. But, while the low-hanging fruit is much harder for most of us to target... there are lots of opportunities in AUTHORITY sites.
Create a marketing strategy that DOESN'T rely on Google for your traffic. E.g. sell or market a QUALITY product. If you don't have anything yourself, well, that is what affiliate marketing is for. Create quality content that markets this product and make a space on the internet to do this (could be anything, website, blog, youtube channel, web 2.0 site etc) and then just do your thing, finding other ways to draw in traffic. Get the emails of people that come in, too. Build a list, invest. Then just keep adding to your website. Over time if it is quality it will be linked to and rewarded in search engines. You can then profit from that too.
Big, authority websites do way better in these updates.
Just do THAT. Have a long-term strategy.
Or, you could keep building crap. Its up to you.

If you go the Adsense route, better build an authority site. Establish yourself as an expert or authority on whatever niche you are into.
There is a future of SEO as long as you do it right. Plus, it is a good idea not to solely rely on Google search traffic.

One of my websites which was making 15k a month was penalized BAD on Oct 8th. Lost all keywords except brand name and naked URL.
Now main keyword jumped upto #309 which is giving me hope again.

I only work with real companies now and don't do any of these mini-site/Google sniper rubbish things -- although amusingly one of the Google sniper pages which was last updated 2-3 years ago and maybe had 2 to 4 rounds of link building done is still faring well in Google! Ironically, after the initial pandas and penguins, the website actually beat highly authoritative websites although it has slipped down now. Anyway, all I can see with the real companies are the usual up and down Google dancing, nothing too spectacular.
I checked BHW after reading on SEJ/SEL about BHW wondering about SAPE links. I've never used them before, but aren't SAPE links just another BMR? They are bound to go down some time.

It has nothing to do with SAPE links... there were a ton of people (in this very thread) that were affected and didn't have any SAPE links.

I have not seen any major shift with my sites.
The funny thing with that source is that it quoted a BHW thread as a source of the rumor
Personally, I don't like sape! I have ordered it for one of my site and after the middle of my subscription, I asked the seller here in BHW to remove the links they have created in sape network (thats how is dislike the link)
Although the link from sape has been removed before this update, that site was not penalized and still ranked on page 1 and one minor keyword ranked#1.
On the other hand, The one site that is penalized has never seen links from sape and actually never seen a link from any russian website.
This thing today can be an offsite thing ( not sure) but I'm 100% sure that its not about just sape.
