This isn't about where I get my traffic from. This is about the misconception that adding any Google related services to your website somehow gives Google the ability to access more of your website (or somehow only penalize you if you use any of their services.)
Like I said. Google crawls your website already. This is part of the process of how your website gets listed on Google. Googlebot has specifics it looks for when crawling the source code of your website, and if and when it crawls over something it doesn't find kosher (or for lack of a better term, completely legitimate) it'll trigger penalties, reviews, etc.
Now. Adding Analytics, Adsense, Google Webmaster Tools doesn't give Googlebot super-bot powers, nor does it give Google any more access to your website. It simply gives the webmaster(s) the ability to see some of the information that Google sees (and already is actively collecting.) Adding these services doesn't somehow generate more data for them, or make the data easier to obtain. Stop spreading this garbage man. It's not true, and furthering this misconception simply misinforms too many people.
The same "information" is "collected" when you register for Google and use their Search. Again. The data that they collect from these services is data that they are already actively collecting internally. By using their services, they ALLOW webmasters to see some of the data that they use.

Well, it won't make sense if they don't. This site of mine is about 1 month old with no links yet, so it can't be anchor text overoptimization, my onpage is not overdone too. My emd with a lot of crappy links and overoptimized as hell is still holding in top 3, so it really won't make sense good whitehat site with 20+ articles to dissapear and emd with 2 articles to stay.

putting my phantom domains into gwt gets them deindexed every single time; else their fine. Coinky dinky? Nahh.

Because by adding your website to GWT which doesn't require anything but updating an a-record, uploading an HTML file, or verifying it through Analytics is going to somehow give Google the ability to track any other data that they wouldn't already be tracking. I'm willing to bet money that signing up to these services does not give Google any extra information about your website. The information that they're giving you is already being collected internally. To think you can somehow avoid being de-indexed, or penalized because you're not using these services is beyond stupid lol.
If you don't sign up to GWT, and you build too many backlinks to trigger the "Excessive Backlinks" penalty, just because you don't get a message in your inbox stating that they caught you, doesn't mean that they aren't still actively penalizing your website for doing so. You just won't be informed when they take action.
Furthermore. I don't know what user activity has to do with any of this. User activity isn't what's triggering your websites to get reviewed and de-indexed. You're obviously doing something that Googlebot detects, which triggers a manual review, which then leads to your website being de-indexed... it's that simple.
Google collects all of the user activity that they use for ranking directly from the search results (Impressions, Clicks, Bounce Rate, etc.)

I had about 10 keywords that were ranking between #1 and #3, all completely disappear also!
Like the others, I really hope its just a temporary dance.
I'm guessing this will be one of those unofficial update that google will not admit. Perhaps a trial or test update that they will try to tweak again in coming days or weeks.
I'm on a niches where spam backlinks are rampant. But seeing the first page almost covered with 1 page web.20 blog and 5 page wordpress blog with 30-50k backlinks.. I think is too much
My sites is not that affected though.. Minor keywords are down and traffic is a bit down too.

There shouldn't be an update to have websites moving up and down. It's a continous process.
