Google Turning into a Local Search Engine?

According to search legend Bruce Clay, ?Two years from now, Google will be predominantly a local search engine.? Pretty powerful prediction, huh? In this segment, Clay explains why he believes this will, in fact, come true.
He has recently conducted a lot of research pertaining to local. From it, he has found that 30 percent of all retailers show some type of local aspect in search results. He has also noticed that the search results vary when the location is changed even when the query is not location-specific.

(Personally, I noticed changes between being signed into my Gmail account and not signed in)

I don't think he's making a huge leap.

Google is becoming smarter and more specific all the time.

Over the course of time you expect the results to evolve to better serve users, and a lot of that revolves around local search. If I'm searching for Mexican food, it's pretty likely that I'm looking for Mexican food very near where I am at if I did not specify a location in my search and if I did, then it's about a 100% chance.

but it's already local isnt it?

you search for web design and it shows you companies from the biggest city near you.
