So today I was browsing around some russian websites related to my niche trough google translate and realized that it was quite readable. Would the articles translated in english be unique and good enough if I use them on my money site ?

I don't know about russian, but english - french translation is just horrible and you shouldn't put that on your website if you don't want someone bilingual to come in and laugh at you. Not sure about some footprint but you could spin it (and risk it to be even more horrible!). Content shows up as 100% unique for me.

If you don't care though; why not? That's some easy ranking

Ah I would still edit them slightly to make them more readable. More interested in tier 1, but even if unique cant google find out it was translated or something ?

What do you think? Google already provides you with the ability to translate content into any other language. It would not be a far stretch of the imagination to assume they automatically cross-check content in different languages when looking for duplicate content.

I have been using translated content for years for my tier 1 and my money sites and had ZERO problems. Come to think of it, I cant remember the last site I built that didnt have translated content on it.

Saves ALOT of time and money, instead of paying/writing your own articles

I do manually edit them on my money site to make them more readable, but most german to english translations are quite accurate so not alot needs changing.

In fact, I even have sites that have been completely ripped from german sites, post for post, and host adsense on them. They are over two years old now and still going strong with no complaints from google

Check that translated english content using pilgrism checking tool. If it shows unique, then use that content.

I use Babellfish.com instead of Google translate for translating content, out of concern Google might just be cross-checking 'new' content online against a record it has of content that got translated using Google translate.

B!ng translate is better than G translate for english>french translation. I don't know about the other language pairs but in either case it might be a good idea to have all of your articles proofread by a native speaker of the target language.
