Hello, I was reading the morning press and i've read this epic short news A press belgium website sued google because they publish their content on Google News. Unfortunatly, google loose the case and they has to wait the approuval of the website before publishing the news. Google reacted strongly with sandboxing the whole news website and they lost their whole traffic ! Message is clear, don't mess with Google
Lol that's just nasty I hope they got good money out of that case because the online earnings are surely going to drop a lot..
genius ... actually google news exactly that's calling to be '' gather news from sources '' how genie can you be like a site news owner to sue google because they include your news into their search hahahahhaha maybe there is some kind of confusion when french peoples trying to translate the statements ? ( I don't speak french ... but it's possible lol )
That's just MEAN! Though it seems to me that they should have thought that lawsuit through a little better, no?
lol, I bet the press site which sued google don't know much about search engines, and linking with a description is not a crime. Copyright violation bleh.
''Instead, the Belgians sue Google, stick it with a heavy fine for each violation, and create a bad precedent. This fine is €25,000 for each violation. It seems to me that the violation on the news site and the violation on the search site would be identical. Google had no choice but to block and filter all access to these sites. '' Waaauw that 25k for each violation hurt them real bad, i guess google crying because the belgians make google broke...
It is a topic of interest. Google is continually stepping on the copyrights of webmasters. They rip text and images from our sites. For most queries I don't mind them taking text but sometimes they take enough text so that the searcher has no need to actually click on my site. Their answer was found in the search result listing. However, since I have the option of blocking my site from Google (never going to happen) I am defacto giving them this right.
They definitely didn't think this through. Their actions are now backfiring. Though luck, that's what you get from being greedy! I quote the Dvorak on this one
Thats shows what a vicious company google really is. Google news and Google SERP should be a different entity. If someone wanted to be pulled from Google news, their SERP should stay unaffected. On the other hand the newspapers need to make up their mind too, do they need google traffic or not.
The Belgian site had no idea what they had to lose. I notice a trend in the arrogance of these European companies and governments.
Hello, I think Google is doing the right thing. They sue them because, they don't want that Google shares there information. Google news is a extract of the normal Google results, so if you don't want that your results are include in Google news (the extract) you have to be canceled out of the bigger thing. (the normal Google search) So i don't know why they are upset.
