I have a website that was ranking #1 for a competitive keyword phrase (on the home page). In April, my rankings fell and I was on the 2nd page. Recently, I have noticed that Google will keep me on the second page but switch between showing the deep link and the home page. Searching in Google shows that both pages (the deep link and home page) are always in the top 50.

I initially built SEO for both in an attempt to have both show on the first page but it never happened. Now, Google just switches between the two. I'd ideally like the home page to be the main page Google shows and my theory is by doing a canonical or redirect via in content linking that I could consolidate the link power of the two pages and get back to the top of Google.

    Anyone experience this?
