Google Spam Update October 19th.

Aaahhh the holidays are around the corner and Google does its yearly shakedown.

Have to say that they are early this year, it might be that there is another update on its way around half Nov.
I have the same worry

I have 2 websites one in French and the other in Arabic, the French one got hit in May update and September update and it recover in this update. The Arabic website never got hit with any updates.

Note: in the 2 site I just rewrite content manually from other pages. Screenshot_20221025_183007.jpgScreenshot_20221025_182927.jpg

Well I am glad you recovered, bro. At least there is some good news.

Do You Remember the movie "Groundhog Day" ?
Come on Google, every year, same time, same shit ? before big shopping days ?
Why, oh why there is no place, where you can bet on google updates in big traffic / cash season - I would go all in - same time - every year.
Oh wait google is improving the search quality - really ?
There is only one solution - a strong community needs to collect some million people, signing a paper against google, and then, we the people put google to court, not a government (that wont bring any results anyways - as always).
It was free trade that made us humans develop and dominate the world, and that was way back before Christ. Everyone was trading - now a world where only 10 companies make more than 50% of that trade cake doesn't work. That's like born unfree.
That limitless growth by google, amazon, and others will all at the end ruin all of us, as well as our planet. Not to mention that those companies do not pay taxes at all. And yeah I highly doubt, personal taxes for guys like Jeff Bezos, Donald Trump, XY, and like 10K more super rich people do really ever exist. If they would, our average income tax rate would not hit the 10% mark.
So why do we pay taxes ?
It's time for a revolution!
Let's go, basically it has never been easier to stand up and collect million sof people, especially not, against google - I did not met a single person past 10 years not saying: like "google is a curse", did you ?
And just imagine: You start the same google business model - linking- just picking out 0,000000000000001% search income of the google cake a "good running niche, or some high demand search terms" in google, and now you do the same, as they do - linking to other pages - a google search clone - doing the same.
You will end up in a court, after a few months.
So what did I miss ?
Modern slavery? Are we really the generation allowing this?

Maybe I had too much silence today :) Maybe i should have used an AI tool for text, and put some more keyword stuffing in, so google would rank and spread my words."

Just quoted that comment made by Lostmojo on seroundtable - so true

What changes did you make to recover the first site?

Let's wait for the outcomes. Those who got affected would take several month to recover completely.

There are plenty of other factors too, there's not just a 1 answer to answer all issues.

I think I might have figured it out, or at least partially.

In my website's case, it was somewhat broad. What Google did in the update was put websites into topical categories. In my case, I was still ranking well in a few niches but in others completely tanked.

I have 3 affected news websites with 70% reduction in traffic. Good content, good backlinks, absolutely white hat.

One of my site got hit from October spam update.

So far, I've removed old and low quality posts from my blog and updated some crucial posts with 6000 words/article.

What I've done so far:

Removed: 70 posts
Updated: 30 posts

In the last two days traffic increased for 30%.
I a week or two traffic may be back to normal.

I hope so.

When you remove these posts don't you face the 404 error? Or do you redirect all to the homepage?

Who gonna affected by this mostly ? any idea ? I think sites with a lot of pop-ups and over exaggerated claims ?
Google has stated that there’s https://www.searchenginejournal.com/7-tips-using-pop-ups-without-harming-seo/198221/#close such as those that provide information about cookies or ask a user to verify their age. Also, pop-ups triggered by “exit intent” are not penalized. That means, the right pop-up at the right time can be a powerful tool to help users stay on your site. You might provide information about free downloadable content or a special discount.

If you’re using the same, annoying pop-up for every user that clicks on your page, you’re getting an SEO penalty. This is an important digital marketing trend to remember in 2023. If you haven’t taken a look at your pop-ups in a few years, now is the time.

ive made a massive autoblog site covering hundreds of thousands of keywords with content like bestreviews.guide

got smacked down in the past few updates. this one was the nail in the coffin
