Google Spam Update - August 2026 Has Arrived

Good update. The August 2026 Spam Update has now finished rolling out globally, so it’s a good time to compare Search Console data before and after the update and look for any ranking or traffic changes.

Can I share links as freely as you do, or is that a privilege reserved for certain members of the forum?
Last time I shared a useful link to a detailed guide, my reply was removed by a forum moderator, and I received a warning for violating the forum rules. But I still don’t understand - are these rules applied selectively?
Because it is an authoritative source like Google under relevant thread as important as an Algo update.

An hour ago, Google just updated their search status with the August 2026 Spam Update

So far this seems to have been favorable for us and we're tracking patterns.

Yeah I’d be watching this one closely before making any big changes

Google says the August spam update was global and applied to all languages and the rollout actually finished on August 21 after about 2 days and 16 hours

If you’re seeing positive movement I’d compare the winners and losers rather than just looking at the overall traffic graph

I’d specifically check what changed for pages that moved a lot and look for patterns in things like scaled content, expired domains, aggressive link building, parasite pages, thin affiliate content, or other areas that could fall under Google’s spam policies

One thing I’d avoid is assuming every movement after the update was caused by the update itself. There has still been ranking volatility after the rollout finished, so I’d give the data a little time to settle before drawing conclusions

The interesting part for me would be comparing 20 to 50 winners against 20 to 50 losers and finding the common factor. That usually tells you much more than watching the visibility graph alone
