I just got a bit of a Google slap across the board for link building (angelas links and directory listings as well as link wheels) I and wasn't taking it too hardcore just at maximum about one hundred links a week.

I got knocked down to like position 29 (pg 3) when before I was at and floating about at #3 and making good money (the niche was weak competition).

I got a page rank of 5 in about 4 weeks! This is great!

How long do you think the slap will last, Google seems to have quicken'd up the whole turn around process, but I think a couple of weeks others say a couple of months - I don't believe months as i've got good content and it's a great site.

    Thoughts please.

(i'm not gonna show the site or share the niche - sorry)

I've had a few sites slapped. Just keep trucking and they'll rise in serps again.

I had a site that went to PR4 in about 1 week. Month later 0. Now its 3 again.
Serps fluctuated like yours but now its steady on the first page.

I would continue building links at the same pace or even ramp it up, others may do things differently..but youve already been slapped so what you got to loose?

Thanks for all the thread adds guys, great info and also good support. Yeah, it may well be this is the caffine update coming in, in my particular niche there has been a huge infulx of SEO's however, not one is as strong as what i've done, but that said i'm bouncing from #1 to like #40 on a daily basis, also checking with my people all over the world (and my own tools and proxies) I'm actually fluctuating all over the damn place. That said at the moment sales have dropped however, traffic seems to be tailing off...
best @200 a day and now down to 50 a day... hmmm

    Not bad still....

Thanks for the support BHW rocks!

yeah this is called the google dance. many times your site reaches a good position in the serps, and a week later, it disappears. then a week later, it comes back.

this could happen a few more times.... the dance.

Apparently Google just implemented some new rules and that usually means new algorithms - Proof is in the pudding - just had my Adwords account killed just before xmas - NICE F**KING XMAS present from Google.

They are getting way to F**king anal with affiliates these days anyways - you have to be squeeky clean to adverise with Google these days - so that means no CB or similar products and no questionable products

So in regards to SERP's it is highly likely you experiencing an adjustment phase...

Next I am sure if you do not follow the New FTC guidelines Google will drop your account or disapprove your ads

Warning to all affiliates new to Adwords:

DO NOT mess around when Google disapproves an Ad - they don't tell you but a disapproved ad is actually a WARNING

and it only takes about a dozen warnings (even over a period of time) to get your account killed (subject to the type of warning).

The thing to be most careful with - If you get a warning about your landing page, thread carefully as this is most important. Ads secondly.

I know, I have run hundreds of campaigns on Adwords.

But all that said, as an affiliate for CB and many Adult products, IMO Google Adwords is too expensive and anal to use for affiliate marketing anymore

Hence my presence on BHW - time to F**k Google up the ass and come in the backdoor ;-)

well a few weeks on and as the niche is gaining competitive value i'm still jumping about all over the place, however, I do have the highest page rank of all of the other competitiors, my site is bouncing about still. I just need a plan for a solid static for the money keywords.

Still building links and angelas links too...

How about link wheels? I got the web 2.0 properties and articles.

    What about a xrumer blast?

Nobody except google really knows the answer. Sometimes, it takes only couple of days, while others may have to wait for weeks. Just keep on building backlinks and you will rise again.
