Google Sitemap Error Message

Im getting this message

We were unable to crawl your Sitemap because we found a robots.txt file at the root of your site but were unable to download it. Please ensure that it is accessible or remove it completely.

WTF

removed the robots.txt - then tryed to 777 it.

Any ideas

I had this issues with robots.txt on a godaddy site i had (never making that mistake again_, they have an overriding robots.txt dont know if thats the issue

which hosting are you with?

I had the same problem about 2 weeks ago on a different host and all it was was an error in my .htaccess. Something to have a look at atleast.

if its godaddy change hosts,
whatever hosting you're on just google that + robot.txt and see if people have had a similar issue

Thanks for the responce, cant really change host as got lots of links to that host, I would like to resolve this problem, dont think its host as have another site on same host (maybe different server) and its fine....
