Google site: and link

If I put site:my site google says it found it like 600 times ...

if I do link it says 0 . I know I have back links because I built many genuine and nothing is showing. Can anyone advise me on why this is ? I logged into google and checked it with all the tools and my email and have no errors or msgs.

The most likely explanation is that Google doesn't show most links it detects - even searching "link:youtube.com" only has 1140 results even though there are probably thousands that amount.

If you know you have a bunch of links, perhaps they're all nofollow?

I'm also having the same problem. I checked some other domains also.

Backlink checker tool shows 0 or 2 links only. But we created lot of backlinks.

Anyone tell me what's the problem it is?

The link operator won't give you the total amount of links for the site because, well, it's Google. Showing all your links would be too easy to steal your competitor's backlink portfolio for yourself and vice versa.

You can register for a free account on Majestic SEO, with this limited account you can find a closer estimate of total backlinks as well as referring domains. Another tool to gauge your total backlinks is Open Site Explorer from SEOMoz. Again, you can register for free and use their tool for certain uses.
