So I have been using the new Google Shopping adwords. My products are priced well. People click through but not a very good conversion rate at all. Any one have any tips or experience in Google Shopping conversion specifically? We sell hobby grade rc vehicles and parts.

I'd be interested also since I'm building out a larger ecommerce store right now and was planning on promoting on Google shopping as well as adwords and a couple of other places.

    Gsecur,

It sounds like if the advertising and pricing portion is going ok that there is an issue with your landing page. Did you do any landing page tests (a/b or multivariate?). Do you have any tracking set up on the landing page or the funnel that users may follow before the conversion happens? If its just the one page and you have tracking on it, it may be difficult to tell why visitors are abandoning. If you have multiple pages with tracking in the conversion funnel, you could try and pin point at which page they abandon the process.

Here is a good article on conversion funnels and setting up tracking with Google Analytics,

Hope that points you in the right direction,

    Shawn

You need to expect a LOT of price-hunting non-converting traffic; it's inherent with Google shopping.

Thanks content authority for the link. I am going to implement those now. I had been using the conversion tracking but that was too general. Funneling techniques may be more my answer.

Jascoken, I think you are right that price hunting is the issue and browsing. I have a sponsored team of racers who are cutomers I use as well and they feal it is the same issue.

OK so I added the tracking codes so we shall see. With so many window shoppers I am trying to get people to sign up for my newsletter by receiving a 5% off coupon code when they sign up.

I have also been thinking of how to promote my coupon codes but not sure of the best way to do it.
