What's the strategy behind this? Are they trying to compete against amazon by allowing direct search to site? Also this would hit affiliates as well as it goes direct to site?

I tried to see how to sell on Google and it seemed pretty complicated, I guess first question is with this new Google update are you just allowed to list your products like if it was etsy? or ebay? And I hopped on the article and searched google store to see how it works and I from what I saw it looks like it only supports like the big corporations like best buy target etc.
I guess what I am trying to ask is how do we actually use this new platform. And if this is actually good?

I love the fact how amazon thought it was too big to compete against and kicked affiliates in the ass..then along came google and shows them who the King really is

If Amazon doesn't increase affiliate commissions within a month, they are going to feel the heat.

Google will probably give it for free for a period of 1-2 years, and then add monthly charges or affiliate commission model. They get 90% of their revenue from advertisers, and now they are going to charge money to send targeted traffic. It's like directly getting affiliate commission instead of CPC.

Can google shopping be used for dropshipping? or do you need to have a product listed on a website like Shopify, eBay, Amazon already?

I just checked the set-up and it's not that hard. You need your own site from the looks of it because you have to 'claim' your site when first setting up.

Shopify are running a free trial and I saw a post from shopifys twitter handle looks like they already found out about this news and give a link to intergrate the shopify store with google shopping probably making things a lot easier than manually listing all products.

My guess is best way to take advantage is for affiliates to see which products users go to google to 'search' and land on their pages for them to send over to amazon, instead list those products on your own website and cash in.

Drop-shipping would be easy as well you'd need your own site like wordpress and there are plenty of add-ons that will help in the buy and sell processes.

Key part is 'what are users searching' which are being sent to Amazon & Ebay which can be directly sold by yourself (or increase %).

I might be stupid or smth but I'm not quite sure how this is going to work... I mean Google Shopping ads were per CPC basis, and if they are making it free, how are we going to compete against each other... No bidding(?) I'm looking forward to test it out with my DS store for sure...
