Google search results different on different computer?

There's something weird going on, or at least, to me it looks weird.

When I check my main keyword on google, using the exact same settings on different systems, the results come out differently.

Example:
(my site is a .be )
I look up my main keyword on google.be , asking for only BE results
When I do this on my home computer, my site will come up first or second.
When I do the exact same search on a different computer/laptop, my site figures three or four places down the page!

Why is that? Does anyone have an idea?

May be you are logged into gmail in one of the computer?

Happens me too depending on provider I am using and going through my I phone.

Could be it is hitting different data centers or if different providers the geo location data Google
sees is sightly different.

Also maybe clean your Cache and Cookies with something like CCleaner this can affect it to.

No, this is not the case. I even have the same results on different browsers as well.
It actually looks like the position of my computer makes a difference for the google results

Thats because you Computer has shifted its Geo location

AFAIK, there are only certain reasons why Google results might be different:

1) Personalized "browser" search results, stored via cookie, and can (should) be turned off. This is on a browser-by-browser basis, I think. Meaning you can't turn off personalized results in IE and get "neutral" results from Chrome.
2) Local search results, which I assume is based on your IP address.
3) Personalized "account" search results, also stored via cookie? that will change when you log-off gmail, facebook?, google+?, Google Analytics, WMT, etc...

Also, I would assume results delivered to mobile devices are going to be different, but wonder why. How does Google resolve the idea that a mobile device's location may (or may not, IDK) have nothing to do with it's IP address? It's "dial-up", isn't it? What happens when a mobile device from City "A" looks for local results in City "B"?

Ok, I deleted all history and cookies. It looks a little more like the results on the other computer now
So, that seems to be the case indeed.
Now, it also means that my site is not showing up as high as I would've wanted it to

well, dont their algos give specific results based on location and search history and all?

G will vary results based on location, as certain things are more relevant to certain people. I'm sure there's other factors also but I know this is one for sure.

Ok, I guess that's what it is then. Now I just need to find a way to get nr.1 on ALL computers, in all locations and all situations !

Just keep backlinking and vary the anchor text quite a bit, all the results will start moving up. If you need a idea, check the rankings in webmaster tools which gives you the Average Positions where your keyword appeared at.

I keep using different offers and services here on BHW. But, my competitors seem to have found the BH ways as well. They keep pushing it to the limits. I found some very bad BH links , that should've penalized them already, but they keep going!

But, no worries.. I keep it cool

Just get yourself ONE method to check your serps - and stick to that and only look at that.

Yes I know that some people will see different results than you, but you should only be interested in patterns and actions, not actual numbers.
(it doesn't really matter if you are #41 on one machine or #35 on another, what matters is that that position has improved 125% because of the actions you took)

I see... Can you elaborate a little bit on those methods for checking SERPS?
I mean, if I have a number one position on my computer, just because my cookies are not deleted, then this definitely is not a good method, right? Because, once I delete the cookies, I get a different view on things.
But anyway... I still do get a point of where I'm going, even if the position changes a few spots per location/computer, it's not really a big deal, is it?

get some tracking software and only use that one piece of software. Don't use your browser.

I use ranktracker from SEO powersuite, but I don't think it's neccessarily any better than anything else out there, I just like the history it gives me through 2 years of use.

You have to check log out your Gmail and Email account.

Ok, I'll look into that. Is there a free service that is good enough for this purpose?

I did all that. And, indeed, like I said, it changed the results completely. Not in my favor though. I liked it better the way it was before

Yeah, the search results are "tailored" to you whether or not you are signed into gmail or even in incognito mode. They take nearly everything into account when tracking..your sex, age, browsing history, +1, ad-clicks, and when you are logged out, cookies and history cleared, you are still screwed because google uses your i.p. address to filter results. It gives you what they think you want to see, which demotes relevant sites with opposing views.

Then you have the android phone problem. Again Google has access to everything on your device, calls, contacts, texts, apps, pictures, notes, location, mic control, camera control, emails connected, where you go (even if geo location is 'turned off'), and your buying habits because every thing has an app.

Google changed their safe search mode a few days ago...basically now you only have 2 choices, strict filtering and moderate filtering. This is not just for images, but everything. To keep it on "moderate" you have to sign into google, otherwise it keeps defaulting to strict. The no filtering of adult content option is still available on non-U.S. Google sites! Even using specific porn related or other foul words doesn't break the barrier. and if it does you'll likely get a lot of seo spam sites which don't have the relevant content and probably should be ranked lower anyways....

Filter bubbling is creepy. Google has a profile on pretty much everyone that has used the internet and of course they sell it or give it the government. I've had emails and seen ads in the past on sites that were way too specific to me. Imagine how detrimental a profile they built about would be if you are a hypochondriac and they have picked up all of your medical searches and then you have difficulty getting insurance or worse. Potential employers could use your searches against you (under the table).

Its nearly inescapable, but there are other browsers, add-ons, search engines, proxies, vpns at least for your computer. Your smart phone is probably the biggest info leaker though.
