Google Search Console Auto Verification

I've recently added two new sites to my search console and they have both be "Auto Verified." This is concerning to me because these sites are both on different servers with different ip addresses and registered with a private registration. In fact the only thing I can find that they have in common (other than the fact I do actually own both) is they were both registered at GoDaddy and run the same framework & theme. How is Google able to figure out I own them both?

Simple. They both have your Google Analytics code.
 
Dumb question. Why have you added them both to the same Search Console since you don't want Google to find out that you own both of them? You already told Google that you own both, and it was kind with you to auto-verify them. Better have each domain with it's own Search Console, if you really need the data from there.

For this new site I'm not worried that Google knows about it. I just bought it and wanted some of the data that the search console gives.

I've been buying up domains to start a PBN. I haven't linked them together yet. Simply bought them, installed WordPress and have been adding content.

I have had one site for a long time that has always been on search console, but as soon as I added this second one it auto verified which I thought was really weird.

I did use the same email for both sites when setting up certbot. Could this be it?

It doesn't make any sense. It's not Google's job to track your data and auto-verify your sites. You must meet one of Google's requirements to verify your domain. You should verify your ownership through one of the following methods:
  • HTML file upload
  • HTML tag
  • Analytics tracking code
  • Tag manager
  • TXT record
We can't know which method you have used but Google won't verify your ownership if you fail to meet their requirements.
