Google says Web Site Traffic Is Not A Ranking Factor

It is a bit confusing what they mean here, and I think purposefully so. They talk about relevance, but relevance is made up of many different factors. How could someone argue that the most relevant traffic would win out over the site that has the most traffic? Its ridiculous. And as many people have pointed out 'do the opposite' etc. I think the most poignant point on that site was a user saying "test, test, test".

Without seeing a test this is just as good as a PR exercise by google. Can anyone link a current article that tests this hypothesis?

Traffic will NEVER become ranking factor because it can be easily manipulated.

But..REAL traffic that visit your website and then share it in the form of links will increase your ranking.

But...not all links created equal. That's why building links is not about quantity but quality.

I’ve said it severally , SEO thing is all Fugazi. Like stocks. Nobody knows where the real storm is coming from. It’s best learned from personal experience.
