Is there anyway to determine if a site is in the sandbox?

Well you can check its rankings and if it is not even in the top 1000, it must be in the sandbox :D

there's no real way because sandbox doesn't exist - google just puts down very down the rankings, but there is no such thing as a sandbox.

My site was neglected for several months. It is off the top 1000. It is showing up in Bing an Yahoo results in the 4 and 16 position for different keywords. That is why I wondered about Google.
I used Market Samurai and then some website that showed it doesn't even make it to the top 1000.

Have you checked if your site is indexed by Google?

You can do that by typing in google search "site:yoursite.com" and if you don't have any results than your site could be deindexed. If it is not deindexed there is chance that you could bring it up in the rankings with the right backlink plan.

Google Sandbox refers to a hypothetical mechanism that factors a website's age (or lack thereof) into its ranking on popular keywords. A period of time in which Google evaluates new Web sites before they can attain their best possible rank in the Google search results.

Sounds like you need to put in some work with your site posting every once in awhile during the week to show it gets updated on a weekly basis. Then use backlinks to strengthen the foundation of your site. This should get Google's attention and help bring your site back up from the dead.

This period is about 1-2 months before you get to sandbox.

You can get out from sand box by yourself by exchanging the links withs another webmasters with identical theme of sites. The more links you place the better for your site )

What was your sites rank before and now. That can be used to check if you've been sandboxed or not.
