I am a new member, with 20 years experience in SEO. Part time I must add.

My question is about the Google Sandbox. Do new domains remain there for months?

I’ve read buying an aged domain with good backlinks and then using a 301 direct. Does this work, eg is it an effective workaround instead of waiting on for a new domain coming out of the sandbox?

Almost all my aged domains got sandboxed whilst three newly registered didn't. One of the aged domains has remained sandboxed for over four months now.

Yes around 2 months , they go for sandbox then would pick some stats .

It will really depend on your niche, the compeition, your budget and patience.
Using an aged domain also comes with it's risks aswell if you are doing 301 and not re-creating it's previous contents.
Some aged domains also has risk of being boosted or penalized and may not be as good as its stats indicates aswell.
It may also come with a crappy domain name itself that it's not really worth building up for.
Gotta weigh in all the pros and cons, there isn't any right choice really.
