Google Sandbox Question

I guess you would call it sandbox. I had a good niche, 12000 searches a month, very little competition, very low page ranks on the top 10. So I did my thing, many blogs, social networks, backlinks etc over a one week period. At the end of the week my page was in the top ten. The next day, its on page four. This is checking using Market Samurai, not my own browser.
I might have run one of those backlink tools that add your page to thousands of sites, dont remember. But anyway it appears I am being punished.

So if thats true, what happens if I change the page domain, redo the whole thing again on the same niche. Will this also be sandboxed? How does that work.

How quickly did all of this happen?

It may just be the G dance, so your page may come back, at a higer position than before. Depending on how long it took all of this to happen I can answer more accurately.

The whole thing only took about ten days. I built up a bunch of blogs, social bookmarked, added backlinks and in about ten days it was ranking on page one. I even checked on other pcs. The next day, it was out of the picture, hovering around the fourth page. It has been that way for about a week now.

I have another page, gets many searches, low competition, low page ranks on page one. Did quite a bit of work on it, blogs, social, over 500 Yahoo backlinks, .edu backlinks, page will not rank. Number one and two sites, almost o backlinks, 0 page rank, younger domain etc. I have no idea why this site is ranking and mine isnt. The number one site on this niche is a hubpages blog with no backlinks and no page rank. WTF?

Are you submitting quality backlinks, that is to say that they are relevant to the site you're creating the link on. anchortext keyword density? site relevant to your niche? If you're using software to just submit links to a whole bunch of irrelevant sites in regard to your niche, then you are unlikely to see results with only 500 bad quality links.

However, based on what you've said, you certainly seem to know what your doing if you can get on page one (sorry if I sounded patronising above), so Im not sure why your second page wouldnt be ranked. Will wait to see what you say about the quality of links.

With regards to your first page, dont stop building links, you need to continue to retain the natural look in googles eyes. If you suddenly stop building links because your site dropped, you'll never bounce back. If you keep building quality links, you will return with a higher ranking than before. I seriously wouldnt consider giving up on your site after only 10 days, keep with it... if your niche is good.. it will be worth it.

Thanks for your feedback. To answer your question about the link relevancy, Id say about 50/50. Some are relevant, others arent. Ive read recently that any link is good and that they dont have to be relevant to be good. Ive read both sides on this, but I will keep your point in mind and try to use tools to find relevant links.
If you use Market Samurai, my site should be ranking, nothing else comes close. On IBP the site gets a 97% score. But apparantly that probably doesnt mean a thing. Thanks again, appreciate any suggestions.

Ok, with your first site, just keep creating links at a consistent rate, consider that they wont be indexed the moment you create them. Just keep using the method you were using before, whatever it was, it worked. I think it should bounce back t a higher position than it was at before.

As for the second page, seems an anomoly. Again, Id suggest you just keep building links at a consitent rate to retain the natural look.

Keep making backlinks but for now make only relevant and theme based... Don't make too many, add some more pages to your site or blog. Make links with different anchor texts (60%-80%) primary keyword. Get a press release done... submit some articles on ezine, goarticles like sites... Forget crappy links for some times...

Repeat above procedure and you should be back in SERP soon... Need patience... Also check bounce rate if it's high then work to lower it.

My domain isnt old, but in the first case a hubpage is at number 1 , showing less than mine.

If I read this correctly, you are trying to rank web 2.0 properties that are blogs. If that is the case, you can expect your blogs to come back and rank well soon.

If you are however trying to rank a website of your own and have done all this express back linking, it could be a penalty that will take time.

Also, keep the linking process active, at least until you get back on page 1.

I'm not asking because of trustrank but more because new domains get sandboxed faster than old ones.
