Google sandbox - myth or reality?

Is this theory still actual? I have a brand new site in the automotive niche, almost 3 months old, 40+ articles, every week post 2 new articles, total 118 links from 32 not bad domains (automotive forums, web2.0s, couple of guest posts on niche related sites), several PBN links. But still no traffic.
I believe the G indeed has some kind of sandbox for new sites regardless of a backlink profile?

What is the average age for a brand new site to start getting traffic from your experience?

It really depends on the niche.. It's often 6 months, but if there is no competition at all, you can rank within a week...
In a competitive market/keywords, you can try to death and never work..

Keep working on your keywords and/or work on new ones less competitives..

What people usually call Sandbox is when you get hurt, very very badly and you don't rank anymore because of some bad SEO techniques.
It's rare, but if you do chit, that's gonna happen ! However, I don't think it's your case..

I think this is just a myth. I have been able to rank some sites and forums right out of the box. But they were in a less competitive niche, and the keywords were all long tail. But I have also noticed some of my niche sites that took over five months to start moving.

I think it's a myth. If you work on site and keep it active, you could see results soon. But it also depends on the competition level.

Try to avoid PNB backlinks for new sites, get index right away, social index, foundational links and concentrate on low competition long tail keyword if your site in google sandbox . By doing this you will get results with in 2 months onwards and google never punish this kind of SEO.
