Hi,

This is a thread for people who wanna share their experience with the new Panda Algorithm... i`m thinking of sharing what`s new or what`s changed now.

I`ll start first:

1. I have a number of about 30 sites - created with the same SEO techniques, but.... 11 of them are not WP. So far, so good...the idea is that after 06.06.2011 the traffic for those WP websites dropped more than 70%.

So... my idea is that Big G looks very carefully at WP website. Why? Maybe because a large majority of them are auto-blogs.

Btw... mine weren`t autoblogs.

2. Page Title is very important and the characters such as "." , ",", ";", ":", "-" are very important because of how you use them.

E.g: Page Title: Eggs - white chickens blah, blah. vs Eggs, white chickens blah, blah.

Look at those 2 pages titles closely...

Google now edits *if he considers* your titles in SERPS.

So... let`s say you search for "White chickens" and you use this page title: "Eggs - white chickens blah, blah"

...Google might display your page title in SERPs as "white chickens blah, blah." not the entire title as "Eggs - white chickens blah, blah" ....

...but..

...if you use this Page Title: "Eggs, white chickens blah, blah" ....and search for "white chickens" ...google will show your page title in SERPS as "Eggs, white chickens blah, blah"...

The idea is that the "-" sign has another value as "," or "." ....so... be careful what signs you use in your titles.

...that`s it for today...

please fill up this thread with your new experiences with Big G`s Panda.

P.s: hope you understand my english

Please do not post messages like: Thanks, that`s great. ; Nice share; etc...

just write here your experience with Panda!

One of the things that Google doesn't like on blogs is a heavy use of tags. Most likely they were over used so they are penalizing because of it. The social media component is more important than ever. Be sure to use your tags sparingly not only work to get more social proof via social media, but utilize rel=author am putting in a link to a blog post that is done by Louis Gray and it's correct. httpx://yyy.blindfiveyearold.com/how-to-implement-rel-author I trust that helps you, if not perhaps it will for someone else. :)

Indeed, lately every site that used tags had a decrease in traffic. I`ve also removed tags completely from all my website.

But now... comes the question WHY?

I think there are a couple of possibilities why tags are not loved anymore by Google.

A. It might be because of the way they showed their content.... every tag page looked like a duplicate content... so this might be the problem...

or..

B. It might be because of the FORCED KEYWORD DENSITY they were providing.

For me... I think the B point of Forced Keyword density seems more plausible... and i have a proof on 4 of my website, that now rank on important keywords with a keyword density of 1% - 2% for that word (1 on title, one on the third sentence start, and one on a bullet list).

And that is my no. 3 for today...

3. I think Google loves lower key density now.

Which CMS are you using apart from WP which is showing greater results?

Panda is a big change because its not longer only about relevance but about "quality and trust [in Googles eyes]". I noticed that all the sites that have a complete about site with adress didnt get hit wihtout that did (obviously my sample is not big enough to make this statement a general rule, but it is my observation anyway).

When you read up after the panda update its allot about user interaction, look and feel and trust. How G. thinks to put that into an algo is beyond me but one thing is for sure, its the most intriguing update from Google so far...

Site loading speed has become more important since Panda... We changed servers and got some initial problems with the setup (moved from apache to varnish/nginx), load times spiked (even to over 7 seconds) and SERPS dropped bigtime... currently page load times are under control again and SERPS are recoverring.

@redstone...

I`m using a simple custom cms developed by a friend of mine.

I`ll be back with some new Panda modifications...

I don't think that Google Panda is the end of SEO, Panda was used to eliminate bad content and get better quality sites a better place in the SERPs. That is what we all aim to do in SEO as well, right? So Panda is for only strong and reliable sites and not the crappy ones.

So WP is f**** up, need another platform Joomla and Drupal support XML-RPC so no problem there.

But the plugins need to be adapted and there is no point to adapt themes.

The article quality is not important

I've seen quite a lot of sites hit that have lots of non-relevant backlinks pointing to them. I'm not sure why you would have xRumer or ScrapeBox backlinks posting to your money site anyways, but I've seen those types of things hurt money sites.

I post content with my link to 1000 ip class c and that help me to get my keyword rank in page 1 of panda.

googles panda update in my opinion is all about enhanced user environment.... google watches people surf, and finds in general that people click the back button quickly if they follow a google serp link to a page and the page does not give them what they were looking for.

so, google says ok, if this site is listed with this keyphrase, and people go to that page but use their browser back button to get back to the search results again right away, then clearly this page is not suited to be listed under this keyword.

now, google doesnt want to hurt people, so they give some room there.... several people have to bounce in and back out of the page returning to the search results quickly... once they see this pattern from x% of the traffic/visitors going to that page, they punish the entire site.

So what can you do to protect yourself from panda?.... simple.

disable the back button on browsers (you can't do exactly that, but you can basically achieve the same core result).... This forces people to type in a url in the address bar, or to use their home button or what ever, but in any event, it prevented them from using the back button and getting the pandas attention.

there you go - all safe and sound now.

want to test my theory?

build a quick little script that does a google search and clicks on some target link there... opens page, waits 3 seconds, hits back button..... loads next proxy, does it again and again.

remember, you are working percentages, so you'll likely want to target a keyword with very little traffic so that you can see the results quickly.

now, once you've bounced this site a grip of times.... leave and go back a few days later and the site is gone. - the site got panda slapped.

Now, some of you crafty souls are thinking "hey, i'll build this tool and just get my competitors banned" .... yeah, you could do that to some extent, but it would be a trashy thing to do.... not blackhat, just trashy.

secondly, google is pretty smart.... if they recognize your proxies as "not normal" traffic for that keyword, they just might figure out your evil plan and ignore your attack.

just sayin.

every day i hear more nubs talking about fucking panda, like they all sleep in google's secret vault. Panda was a new document classifier which aims to prevent scraper sites from ranking. What this means is that if site a rips off site b's content, the new classifier can tell within n'th degree of accuracy whether site x is good or not.

Many of us suffered badly with panda effect. But to say anything about its actual effect and outcome is too early I guess as Big G would never disclose its actual blow even begged badly in front.

Lately I am observing that if the homepage and the inner pages are optimized by the same keywords then the inner pages are getting ranking preference over the homepage. This is happening to max of the sites.I can only conclude the some mysteries are yet to be revealed by Mighty G.

Actually, Panda is more than this, and the proof for me are my websites. I never copied/spun/spinned/etc articles from another website. I personally wrote my articles. Why? Maybe because of my language, because i`m a non-english user, and all i can do is translate other articles, but ...as you know... not even google translate can do a good job at translating large sentences.

So... for sure (for me) Panda is more than this.

Regarding your "nubs talking about fucking panda" ... what are you doing on a forum if you don`t like people expressing themselves about different subject? Even a noobie can have a great idea, maybe even greater than a pro, because he isn`t caught up so deep by the subject... and as you know... the more you know... the less you know :D

I think you should get rid of your "people talking fustration"... it will help you in other areas of your life...

Yes, I am finding that inner pages are getting ranked with preference over root page. Even if inner page has no links.

The world does not revolve around google, thus making sure you SEO for Bing, Yahoo & other nichey SE's that other people DO use.

Cheers

They hit small spammy sites so badly now and they will do it again pretty soon. If we consider the fact that G tries to improve its algorithm every day, next update will hit small sites even harder and every few month those websites will go down and down in serp.

The point is that Google becomes user friendly every day. If the website is not "user friendly", it will become harder and harder to rank because people trust Google and G will try to keep this trust.

So now think how to make website good and pleasant for people. even if you are a blackhat, you still need to play with Google rules.

My websites and Panda - The websites that have few articles spread to whole site, survived and got better rank. few websites that have 3-4 articles on main page (wordpress) got pushed back. So it's either good inner link structure or Bounce rate ..

This was going on before panda as far as I am aware, all my links were pointing at the home page for keyword x, yet Google kept bouncing a category page in it position, so i though ok, I'll blast this url very strange what their 'engineers' come up with imo. I personally think they should tell the devs to fuck off running the shop.
