It's not the first time when these guys have hit Google. A few days ago this happened in Pakistan

I'll probably use that to explain to my friends that hacking is normal. Even google is hacked sometimes.

Yeap...it looks like not only google.ro has been hacked. Yahoo.ro and Microsoft.ro websites have been hit, too.

It seems that was hacked by hackers from this site rstcenter . com
Also the website is down, those hackers are known for hacking varios news websites fromRomania.

Do they only hack romanian websites or any websites hosted in Romania a target? All my sites are hosted in Romania but not marketed to the Romanian market(.com's and english seo).

Not only Romanian websites. They hacked even US and UK .gov sites. If i recall they hacked the UK navy website and a lot more. Mostly from what I saw on that forum(I was a member) they used mysql injection.

Hmm , more and more news about romanian hackers these days xD , just yesterday I saw on the news a guy who stole 25M $ from a million accounts .

The rumors are saying that these hackers have actually hit Romanian Top Level Domain (rotld.ro) which is the Romanian Authority that sells .ro domains. In this way they had access to the DNS settings of different .ro websites. But, it's just a rumor...I don't know how true it is.

@Sebip: the guys which hacked google.ro or the a/m website are not Romainians. The ones which you have seen on TV are Romanians, indeed. But they were just steeling credit cards data and selling them to some Australian guys for 1 mil. The Australians have used about 25 millions from those credit cards

Yeah I know , the damages were about 25 $M , not actually profit for the guys , anyway still a lot of money there , about these hackers I just pretended some of them were romanina since a guy talked about seeing this on rstcenter , any sick stuff xD .

Why don't hackers just make programs instead of attacking websites? A good program would net you more then $1 million in profit and no worry about jail time.

Maybe they make programs for money and break into websites for fun or to improve their skills ?

I bet google used this opportunity to shut down their servers for a while and saved $1mil off the power bill that way lol
