Google registrar coming

Newsflash: Google have been a registrar for years.

This isnt about getting access to whois data or anything like that.

Dont forget google applied for about 50 new TLDs.

Its quite simple, they want to control the internet end to end.

Once youre connected to the internet with google baloons, surf the web using chrome, browse to sites registered on google domains, using google analytics, while on your andorid phone looking at it from your google glass sitting in your self driving google car you become nothing but an addon to google inc.

Its not about stupid whois access, they had that for many years.

Coming up next: Google Hot Dog Stands & Private Piano Lessons.

Its simple Google wants EVERYTHING.

I just hope they won`t start acquiring other registrars to dominate the industry.

Keep in mind also that they don't provide hardly -any- tech/phone support. GoDaddy has always been a love-hate relationship for me but at least I know I can reach a real person. Reaching Google is like trying to talk to the Emerald City guy in the Wizard of Oz...

Some people would likely switch, thinking they would be favored by Google in search engine ranking.

First thought to this is no way would I use them but...
If most average internet users and businesses switch to google as its cheaper and they think "its google so must be better" - which wouldnt surprise me at all.
Then doesnt that leave all the spam and blackhat sites on the other smaller registrars? We'll stand out a bit then no?

<paranoid>

I will buy from them only to flip the domain after and not for seo as I hate Godaddy

Its another $12/year multiplied by market share for Google. Good money for doing nothing.
Surprised they didnt jump on the bandwagon earlier.

I just hope they won`t start acquiring other registrars to dominate the industry.

They will be probably be selling information. It's hard to compete with Google, they will crash the market.

Hope they don't push it as far as "Move to us or you ain't being indexed... Full stop..." :S

This can be a good sign if it was seen to stop spammers and PBNs.

What that means is there is no algorithmic way to stop good PBNs so they have to have people dumb enough to register with Google

What if they start giving special boosts to domains that are registered with them, will people start switching to them then?

After all, they tend to give a boost to all the properties they own right now (blogspot, youtube), why wouldn't they extend this "special treatment" further to try and capture more customers.

I am also afraid that one day they will buy namecheap or Godaddy ( I do not have manny domains registered). But for others who have, this will be a serieus threath. This way Google will connect the peaces of missing information and they will eventually kick allot of players from their backyard...

If they have the money to buy stupid drones why wouldn't they buy companies like godaddy and namecheap.

Note:
Online business will eventually grow bigger in the future. The amount of registered domains daily proves it. Therefore the cost of having a online business will keep going down. Perfect for Google to launch there registrat and blast a multi million campaign about how good and cheap they are compared to their competitors. This will lead into more valuable information for Google to connect their other databases with the registrar. Mostly people are providing their real info when they registering a domain, this divers with other google services.

Maybe I am just thinking to far...

Godaddy is awful and I ran into problems with Name. I prefer namecheap, I wonder if I make two perfectly equal sites will the domain with Google registrar rank higher?

Free privacy is a good idea though.

Awesome! A new place to host my private blog network. Who else is moving their stuff over?
