Alright so I think I'm being "danced by Google". Or it could just be that the last time they crawled my website it was under construction. But now all my rankings dropped significantly. My smaller/less competitive ones dropped like 20 rankings, but my big keyword went from 10 to >1000!!!

I'm worried. Do you think its a dance or because of my site going under construction? Or did the under construction cause the dance?

Should I keep building backlinks?

It might be Dance , you create backlinks slowly only High PR and hopefully your site will be back within days .

Yes you should keep building backlinks.

Yes the problem is almost certainly caused by your site being under construction. Anytime you make changes to your site it can and usually does affect your rankings. If Google comes to your site and does not see the content that was responsible for your rankings then of course it is going to drop you.

My general rule is the higher a site is ranked the more careful I am when I make changes. My suggestion would be to get your site changes completed as soon as possible so things can settle down, the longer it goes on the longer it will take you to get your rankings back.

Just keep building backlinks, you will be fine and up in no time.

Keep submitting links and follow a solid plan everyday, it has happened to me

a lot but I have come out of the dreaded sandbox with ease..:)

Thanks, but how long will it take for Google to realize the site is not under construction anymore? I fixed it, but they did not realize yet (I think).

I will do a little bit of link building I guess.

Check your stats, there is a section on robot visits. If it was visited by googlebot - they've noticed the change, it may take a while to index the change.

I don't host the site by myself, is there anyway I can check it? I can ask the person who hosts it to check though.

Wow congrats for those red stars. :)

@OP yep, i think your site is dancing, try adding new content like 4 and 5 new ones, and add content to your landing page make it 1k or more words. Wait and youll be back. :) or if you have ads above content try removing it.

Yeah it's quite possible.. I will tell you the best way.. Try adding around 3-4 articles in a week. This will help to get back your ranking. Continue link building as you used to. Just make sure you pass on some quality links instead of some spammy ones.

My site actually isn't a blog, its a static site (doesn't use Wordpress). I rarely ever add new info since I don't want there to be too much content on 1 page (I can only edit the homepage). I am doing some linkbuilding though, so I hope that helps.

Yes, off course you have to consistent keep building backlinks, you can take help from backlinksindexer for back linking and you have not to worry about Google Dance, it will sort out soon.

Hmmm, if I have a ton of LQ backlinks (I think this might be the problem), how do I redeem myself? lol, I can't remove the backlinks, but if I build more HQ ones will my rankings come back?

keep building back links. don't stop doing it or don't force it much. you'll be fine.
it happens with new sites often.
