Anyone think Google has algorithms that can delay a websites boost for months at a time?

That would be pretty hardcore but from seeing how the SERPS work I have a feeling this may be true and from what people have also posted here.

Cheers

It's keyword and website-dependent, and it's highly variable.

Nobody knows for sure. I've seen evidence which could account for something like this, but again it's very hard to draw any concrete conclusions about cause and effect in SEO.

From my personal experience the answer is yes. Especially if you do something that triggers some alarms (too many backlinks, too fast, etc).

Difficult to tell but some websites definitely take take to start ranking.

Google by design does not show you your true rank for weeks or even a month at a time.

One of their patents says when you get a new link or links the google algo lies and either shows your rank go up or down but not to your true rank. This goes on for weeks, we know this as the google dance.
