Google Plus do-follow with anchor

Google Plus pages allow do follow links with anchor texts. I wonder how long this will last for? I built up a ton of Youtube channels with high PR back when those were do-follow, now Google is rolling out new channel layouts with no-follow links. I don't want to make the same mistake again and invest a bunch of time in Google Plus if they're just going to make it no-follow eventually. Seems plausible they're doing a bait-and-switch by enticing as many webmasters as possible to be active in Google Plus, then when they feel they have enough users to compete with Facebook, make everything no follow. Thoughts?
