Google Places Question

I've been thinking a lot lately about how to get an online site in google places, and the only option that i can come to is buy an address (which i cant for where i live) or just pick a random address (preferably a building that has been abandoned for a while) I was just wondering does Google Places actually send anything to the address you list? Or will they never have contact with google?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

I have luck with Both PO boxes, and UPS boxes. I heard they were cracking down on those, but mine are still ranked perfectly fine.

PO boxes cost $30-40/ 6 months
UPS boxes cost $60/quarter

Instead of being PO box #114, call it Suite 114. It sounds official that way.

I've seen "training" courses where they tell you to pick a non-existent address. Let's say Main St has houses at 60 and 64. You're supposed to put your business at 62.

The problem with that is, if you're account is not Phone Verified, and they send a postcard, you won't get it.

The first 2 methods, allow the postcard to arrive.

I totally agree with ENGLANDRM, GP excepts ups stores because you can receive
packages. This is your safest bet, I don't believe GP could ever change this policy
because there are alot of rual legit businesses that have no other means of receiving
mail + packages.

That sounds good that englandrm thank you, do you know of any good UPS boxes websites? As i live in a pretty small town, and its about that town. so the address cant be in a big city where they all usually are if you get me =/

But regards to the fake address, your saying if `main st` has 60 and 64, but for some reason 62 doesnt exist? Or maybe if theres only 64 houses in main st maybe you could say its 65?

Just look in your town's phone book for UPS stores. Pick one that is closest to the center of the city, because the farther you move away from the center of the city, the harder it is to rank high in Google Places.

Let me guess, you are not from the US?

House numbers do not coordinate with the number of houses on a street - they usually go by multiples of 4, but there are streets where even that "rule" isn't true.

It doesn't matter anyway because the ONLY way to verify a GPLace now is to have them send you a postcard with the pin.

The secret is using hCard addresses oin your site code then claiming the address. Find and office that does suites and add a suite.

Or get a virtual address.
