So one of my client's husbands thought it was a good idea to go and use Yodle to try and ever increase their business more. Those guys took over their places page and completely destroyed everything that we had built up over a 3-4 month period in a matter of a week. Of course nobody talks to me first about this, they just did it. So now I'm fixing all of this crap that those guys did, and my client canceled their account with them. However, even after getting their Google Places page back to where it was originally with me, when you try and view it you get "We currently do not support the location". It seems as some sort of glitch in Google's system. Has anyone else dealt with this? Their GP listing is literally gone! Should I be deleting the listing completely and starting it over? Any insight into this would be great.

Thanks!

DrSeuss,

So sorry to hear you are having trouble with Places listing. It seems that it has happened to others as well. Sometimes there are technical glitches that cannot be explained and other times there are discrepancies as to who is managing the listing (such as when a third party service is used to create or take over a listing). I would suggest submitting a support ticket to Google.

Here is the process,

Go to the Google+ Local (Google Places) Help Center
Click on "My Listing Has Incorrect Information"
Click on "My listing no longer appears on Google Maps or is incorrectly marked as closed."
Fill out their form and click submit.

I would resist the urge to create a new listing as the same problem will happen and it could take even longer to get the listing appearing again. Right now you are probably looking at several weeks before its back up.

Check out this post in which the company had the exact same thing happen to them and how they dealt with it.

Also, some users reported still being able to see their listing in search but not in their account. Are you still able to see your client's listing when you use keywords to search for it?

I hope this helps resolve your issue,

Shawn

Hi Shawn -

Thanks for the response. The listing shows up in their account, and appears to show data, however it doesn't make any sense as I can't get it to show up in Google Places for any keyword, nor searching for the business directly. Believe me when I say they're kicking themselves for not at least consulting with me first before doing what they did. I'll follow your steps and submit a ticket to Google to hopefully get this resolved, as far as I can tell, there is no other course of action.

Thanks!
Steve
