I'm about to receive a decent amount of clients requesting Google Place Page creation and optimization. Most of the listings will already exist, but none will be claimed.

Problems I'm running into involve phone/postcard verification.

I can't contact the clients (contractual), but I can use a third party to act as my middle-man. Personally I think it will be easiest with the postcards, and just have the clients go to a website form and enter the verification code. I would try the phones as well, but sometimes postcard verification is the only option. I need an answer to all situations.

Or should I just try and get the clients to verify the place page, and send me login info?

Has anyone run into this type of situation before?

I would let the clients verify the page from the postcard and then get back to you.

You could always try and pass it off as some sort of "Wiz Bang" security feature thats keeping them safe. Just need to pitch it the correct way.

    Hope this helps

From my personal experience, I recommend not using the phone verification system. This is because after verifying the ownership you would obviously change the contact number back to that of the client or actual business owner. However, Google places requires that the ownership be re-verified if the contact number has been updated.

Letting the client verify the listing and then pass on the login info to you seems the best option.

Yes, I would have the clients do the postcard verification also. I have recently been asked to optimize clients google places as well, and I have found that submitting to local directories as a geo-specific business name and not anchor text has really helped to rank them higher locally. Just some helpful advice if you didn't already know!
