The thing is that Apple overestimated the demand for the X. They planned to sell 50 million pcs in the first 3 months of 2018 and now they reduced that to 30 million (recent news), give or take 5 million. At the same time Apple closed the best Christmas season to day, while the combined sales of the 8 and 8 Plus already surpassed the X. What does this suggest? Less and less people want to buy the flagship iPhone (high price, not enough enticing new features) and they either go with the iPhone 8, 8 Plus or don't upgrade their phones at all. Apple might have just found the tipping point in price. The price of the X doesn't seem to be justified for the target audience, it's just too expensive for the regular dick and jane, who bought the actual Apple flagship in the previous years like if it were candy.
These so called high end phones are all "scams" though. Whatever you go with, you're spending 2/3rd of the asking price on the brand name, hype, cool factor etc. and only 1/3rd on the actual item. If that doesn't bother you, the decision you will make won't be a rational one, but an emotional one, where the actual specs won't matter at all, so you might as well just go with the one you think adds the more inches to your penis.
