Google Penalty or dance...

It was funny that this thread caught my attention as I just made a thread about a similar situation I ran into. (Read http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo/381954-help-client-dropped-8-pages-hard-worked-rank.html).

In brief, I bought Entr3's deadly SEO service and had my clients site jump to the 1st page (from the 5th page). My client was incredibly excited, and I was pleased with the service. A few days later... his services name took effect. The website dropped off the first 10 pages. Completely gone, no trace whatsoever. Mind you, this was all during the same time period as the December Search Quality rank algorithm updates were going on. So I can't really say whether or not it was Entri3's service or the update itself. I'm nearing almost an entire month now without the site ranking for said keyword... client is extremely pissed off and I have really nothing to tell him but that it will 'bounce back soon.'

I'm subbing to this thread, do keep us updated on whether or not your rank jumps back.. and I'll also keep you posted on my situation.

No way what you described is just dance...
It sounds more like a dance then a penalty... none of this pages were deindexed.

Well it appears that it was a dance or a glitch of some sort as my page has been reindexed and site has appeared back in the same position in the SERPS. I didn't make any changes or rewrite any content, I just waited a few days and it came back.

Very strange and had me very worried! Only changes were the blog networks and title tag.

I reckon it was the change in title tag. How significantly did you change them?

This happened to em when I was working on a movie site. Google deindexed 800 pages of mine leaving only about 200 index pages, but they automatically reindexed it in the next week. But the sad part is that my site never came up again to first page for some particular keywords. I think when google deeply notices our site they do this, just a blind guess though.

According to me you should - stop building back links for some time, maybe a week or two. Try to share your site in social sites in a very natural way, so that natural traffic comes to your site. Try to build some activity on or off your site.
Remember Google likes activity.... Read my other thread for more.... Maybe the activity part can help you sort out the problem
