    Hi to everyone,
I would like to say my story. (It's small, don't worry! :p)

So, i have a company website. At the past at [keyword1] i have a 30-40 position, and at [keyword1 keyword2] (phrase) i had 14-24 position for the same url (mysite.gr/url1).
At the start of the new year i decide to "promote" my site. I wrote 5 articles andi submit them at article directories, and i bought about 10 blog comments (manually supposed!) from fiverr.
My articles have anchor txt [keyword1] with link to my url.
After these actions, i ranked at 10th position for [keyword1] and at 9th for [keyword1 keyword2].

But, at 15-16 Jan my site dropped very much.
    [keyword1] dissapeared at all.
    [keyword1 keyword2] rank 38th position. (same url)
The keywords are very low competion keywords.

I know that at this period there is a g update, but is there any case that i get penalty for one keyword?

The website is company, so i cannot add many content yet.

Also, at past before 1-2 years i had use an x-rumer service but no affect then.
My todays backlnks are 258, ~90 doffolow from my blog (i have put the website url with anchror text [keyword1] at my blogrolls, ~90 nofollow from a forum that i participate, and the rest backlinks are from some directories and about 20-25 from the x-rumer above service that they remain today.

At webmastertools i have not recieve any message.

All the above are for the same url of my domain.

What do you suggest me? Have i get penalty for one keyword?

    Sorry for my pure English.

I don't believe you're suffering from a penalty as you didn't buy nor build any spammy type links. From what you said you only had manually built quality links created so as of now, my best guess is that it's just during the Google dance period and you should see your ranking(s) beginning to rebound within the next 72 hours or so. I hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel more than free to send me a message.

I've got a post that ranked #2 for %Keyword% and #1 for %Keyword review% and a bunch of other long tail extensions. Then one update the #2 spot %Keyword% ranking dropped out of the top 300 but it remains #1 for all its long tail keywords. First time I've experienced this. So yes you can be penalized for 1 keyword.

Article submission links are so easy to spot. You over-optimized and didn't use neutral anchor texts, first you benefited from it because the algo didn't get the whole picture yet, when the pattern became obvious the algo catched up and neutralized those links plus gave it a little push down for over-optimizing. Try to get the low quality links removed, and build new URL-mach links like domain.com www.domain.com or domain.com/website etc. and neutral anchor texts to balance the link profile out.

I've seen this happen on quite a few of my sites.

Work hard getting it to rank for a couple of keywords and then bam the EMD keyword is nowhere to be seen but long tails are still there.

If anyone has recovered from this i'd love to know how.

I've "un optimised" the pages for the keyword and done things like move adverts below the fold to try and get back up the rankings but nothing seems to happen.

I even appealed on web master tools for one of the sites but google said there is no "manual penalty" so its obviously automatic.

Maybe its the number of backlinks with that specific keyword and i need to build more generic backlinks.

    Hi again,

Now i am sure that i have penalised for this keyword. This url doesn't rank yet for [keyword1].
But i believe that the google is very strict.
Now i check the webmaster tools for my backlinks, it appears 491 backlinks. 255 for url that i have ban for the keyword1] and 230 at my homepage.

What do you suggest me now?
Change the name of url and make 301 redirection? Start link building for all urls with many anchor texts?
