I have this site registered in February. After adding content on it I was ranking number 4. This was in less then 2 days. Number 3 on first page after 2 or 3 more days.

Affiliate links from CJ right from the start on most of the pages.

After some web.2 properties and some forum profiles, slapped my on page six. One week later I was back on first page, position 5-7.

Continued with 10-20 backlinks per day. Bookmarking, profiles, web.2, article directories, rss submissions and very few blog comments. Dropped a few .edu and some .gov. One wikipedia link. No directory submission.

Most of the backlinks had low OBL as I did manual linking.

On late March it just dropped to 140-180 position on g00gle. (I always check with different US proxies) After that it slowly got to 600-800 and now no where in top 999.
Rank tracker doesn't show any progress when searching rank for g<><>gle. Don't know if it's a glitch or some google response. I set up rank tracker to search for g()()gle, yahoo and bing rank.
Site still shows when searching for site:""

Appreciate any thoughts about this.

Looking at your backlinks in yahoo site explorer there seems to be a major footprint in place.

The ones I quickly looked at seemed to be on a blog network on which you had the same article, with the same link, same anchor text and same position within the article.

Also it seemed as though the other posts on these networked blogs were also another collection of similar articles repeated across each site each with similar anchor text links. At least these had some form of spinning.

Haven't done a lot of research but this first glance suggests you have sent a clear message to BigG about your manual link building program and it may have been discounted.

I know about those articles.
It's from a service provided here. However they were added after I got out from google.

Are you suggesting to remove those backlinks?

Already quadratic has provided the needed feedback.

Looks like the content and on page items are not optimized properly.

Keep building backlinks from different sources but use mix of secondary and tertiary keywords as anchor texts. It will bounce back again if you keep at it.

the reason why you got a good ranking in beginning is because of the "honeymoon" effect ..

The site is still pretty new. I've recently had a site that danced for a few weeks all over the serps and it was driving me nuts first page-tenth page-nowhere to be found and then again. I think you should give it a little bit more time and keep on building backlinks and adding content.

Surely Google can't instantly flag your domain if there's 3 hyphens?! Anyone could easily do that mistake and be instantly flagged?!

C'mon people, everyone know that is true about hyphen on domain names raise a flag on google. If you'll be penalized or how much is this penalty it's another story...

Try to check by yourself on: http://www.seomoz.org/labs_tools/spam-detection/index.php?url=best-pre-workout-supplements.com

My Guess Spam Score TLD Score Spam Words Hyphens Subdomain Depth Domain Length Digits
Spammy 0.837 -0.12 0.12 0.43 0.01 0.25 0.12

These numbers add up to your spam score.
The higher your score (1.0 is very bad) the more we think this domain name looks like spam.
You want these factors to be less (or more negative in the case of the green components)
