Google Patent about Relevance

Hey guyz,
Have you guyz checked out http://www.google.com/patents/US7260568 patent yet?
Because, It explains more than I've thought about how they calculate relevance.
And If anyone read it, it would be great to discuss in this topic, what matters and what not.

Unless the patent clerk happens to be Einstein I actually feel sorry for them. That said, this is old, the images contain a floppy disk and this appears to be a dated Microsoft patent. Not sure what your gleaming form this.

It's not everything Google has a patent for that is actually implemented in the algorithm. Focus on what works and carry out your own tests if you are in doubt about how any aspect of the algorithm works and stop focusing on patents.

What SEO Power said. Too many people are overthinking about what Google is doing. From what I've seen through the years, they are not as effective at anything as they want people to believe. But one thing they excel at is to create a lot of noise and confusion (with help from people like Fishkin) and to paralyze a lot of SEOs.

Firstly, it is not a Google patent - it is a Microsoft patent.

And secondly, it is 10 years old.

Well its 10 years old, but that shows to me that Google is about 5 years ahead of the common knowledge of the average SEO. So from this I would need to think what Google is thinking about now, that will be common knowledge in 5 years time.
