Google Page Speed Scam

I know that G has said that site speed is an important ranking factor in the near future. And it could be a significant one, we don't know yet. I am seeing a lot of hype here regarding google page speed.

And now it seems scammers are taking big advantage of it by cloaking the page speed bots and redirecting to a much simpler page with no javascript. This guy is raking it in on Upwork $30k plus already.
His last few jobs completed were in the region of $400.

I fell into the same scam with one of my sites and wondered why the site would not pass the web vitals score after months. Then I found the pages were cloaked tricking the page speed bot, and of course, the scores were almost perfect, 100 and 96 on mobile.

I have lost confidence in Upwork, it seems it's full of scammers?

I get 96 on mobile and 100 on desktop too, but no need for cloaking or anything. Just follow their advice, it's that easy. For me it was compressing my images, making sure there's no layout shift and then cache/minify/combine css and js.

I think @Festinger also put up a service for page speed optimization. Should've checked BST here before going to upwork.

Really its not hard to get decent page speed, just dont make a shitty website, make it good how google recommends...

Honestly I like the idea behind it.

Imagine you have an application which has a bad score because of reasons, wouldn't the cloaking and showing google the 100 score increase your traffic?

You never know what you pay for.

well, this is bhw after all, lol...... i also think its super but not on others sites when they pay u for actual optimization
