In two weeks it will be exactly 7 months since the last PR update which had happened in the beginning of February 2013. Before that Toolbar Page Rank was refreshed every 3 or 6 months, but now it looks that Google is having some big-ass delay or finally decided not to bother with PR anymore, because it probably became kinda useless in the past few years.

BTW I'm not a PR hoarder although I still partially mind it when doing analyses or buying ad space.

OP It has been dead for years they just hang onto it as it makes them look good...

Which is total BS!

They borrowed the patent, runs out in 2015 they will be looking for their own PR type idea.Google won't announce it, at least not until they have a fully working replacement in in place.

I doubt they will announce it at all actually. It's yet another signal they don't want us knowing about.

Chances are it will be modelled on something like the Moz index and i wouldn't be surprised if they have already soft launched it internally.

No it wasn't.. I was doing some A/B testing with it - like starting similar blogs but making one "more white hat" (e.g. more posts, more interaction, more social media, more comments, more "natural" links) and the blog that had more of my attention always got better PR... but yeah, the difference was only like 1 or 2 points (numbers?)

To get quick PR's always redirect old high PR domain to your money site. PR is less important but having one is good to sell your sites too. As you said, having more social links will help your site to get access to google bot continuosly thus having a good PR, when your site got link from high PR social pages.

This PR update is going to be VERY different .. G+ man is going to take into account things they have been OPENLY saying but people have been ignoring or calling bullshit on.. they are not LATE ..they are waiting .. you will see it real soon ..you heard about the widows right ? now watch even more carefully

regards,
ToG

I won't be surprised if they come up with a new ranking metric in place of the PR.

I like PageRank. Only because its easier to determine how strong a domain is. When PageRank are removed totally, it will be much harder for me to buy expired domains :)

What you want to do is look at pr3+ expiring domains just now then look at the site in the likes of majestic , open site etc to see how they transfer the PR into their metrics. E.g PA\DA, for opensite explorer, citation and trust for majestic etc,do this across a range of pr3 sites to get an average of what you should be looking for.

i am waiting as well. i bought some expired domains and i am interested how the will do.

Might be refining the algorithm to include other factors besides backlinks. I didn't know it had been so long since the last update, I just bought a crap load of high PR domains, hopefully they wont lose their PR.

Just gotta wait and see what happens. Its just a green bar lol

I don't think it's dead but I agree with some others that they might be more focused on what they will use to replace it.

good lord

SEO IS DEAD

PAGERANK IS DEAD

MATT CUTTS IS DEAD

Oh sorry the last one I got carried away with but really now. I have heard this BS for years. Pr has had times that it wasn't updated like this, i think there was one year it was only updated once.

Patience young grasshopper. Just because your little toolbar hasnt updated in a while doesnt mean that PR isnt actively being updated still on Googles side.

if PR was really dea then sites like moz majestic ahrefs would only bank on it

Quite frankly I think Google is living it's dawn. The crap has gotten out of control, their privacy reputation is shit, they've been spying on everyone, their ads are spamming all over the place. I think Google is going altavista faster than we thought.
