I was messing around with creating some backlinks and came across Google Notebook accidentally... did a forum search here and didn't see it mentioned anywhere... sooooo......

It appears that entries in your Google Notebook are ******** (as they do not have a nofollow tag on them)...

See for example:

hxxp://google.com/notebook/public/17246244465865494982/BDR0nSwoQn47244kk

Anyway, just thought it would be helpful for those of you looking to add some backlinks, considering google notebook is free and anyone with a google account can use Google Notebook.

Good addition but you would also need to make sure that this note in the notebook gets indexed by Google so you would need at least one backlink pointing to it as well otherwise it's pointless.

good enough for a web 2.0 posting I guess. Have tried it before but forgot about it, thanks for bringing it out again

This is new to me although I already knew that Google Knol does not use nofollow. But I agree with minim that you have to have the page indexed by Google or any search engine for that matter.

So what do you think guys is the best way to have it indexed by the big G? Create a link to it from a blog which gets frequently crawled by Google bots? Or bookmark it maybe on popular social bookmarking sites?

To index a page I normally do this, in this order:

1.) Use pingoat and pingomatic on the link.
2.) Social Bookmark it (I use SENuke, but I'd definitely at least use digg, stumble upon and propeller).
3.) Use pingoat and pingomatic on 2 of the social bookmark links.

I usually see the page indexed in google within 2 hours using this method.

Sometimes a lot faster, I've seen it show up in 20 minutes before.

Yeah, I forgot about pingomatic. Would try this out on my pet project.. hehehe.. Thanks denight.

Yeah, definitely backlink your backlinks. Not all of them but the one's that you suspect may have trouble getting indexed, like Google Profiles and Notebook. Don't forget to ping the URL's and put the RSS feed into a RSS aggregator like FeedAgg.com
