google not displaying the description i want

Hey i ranked my website for 8 high comp keywords into top 1-5 .The issue i face now is that my description which i added in the header file wont be displayed in some keywords.I guess because all 8 keywords are not added in the description because they all have the same meaning.
Now i see that the click rate dropped because instead of my description google is now displaying some random shit which makes no sense and which wouldnt even me make it click.

Any idea how to solve that situation without spamming these 8 keywords in the description or how to force google to display my own description ?

First of all, and just for your knowledge, Google calls these descriptions 'snippets' now. Don't want to fall behind in the times.

It's probably pulling the info from the Open Directory Project. Try adding the NOODP NOYDIR meta robots tags to your pages. That tends to do a good job of making Google do what you want (i.e. using your meta descriptions and page titles in the SERPs).

Please note, though, that sometimes you just can't bully Google. If it thinks you're description sucks, it will put in what it damn well pleases.

These are called snippets. You can find a guide on how to use them on support.google.com

I only had the same when I got my domain penalised with one of the first penguins and google started showing ridiculous descriptions.
But since you rank then I'm not sure why they are putting nonsense descriptions.

I don't know of any technique to force google to display something they don't want to display. Have you tried re-writing them to see if there is just something about them they don't like? That'd be pretty easy and worth a shot. Did it ever display what you wanted it to?

If you happen to use wordpress there is a free plugin called 'all in one seo' and it let's you customize the snippet description, title, kw's etc at the end of any post you make, and even gives a preview of what it will look like in google/se

@TheJedi has nailed it pretty much clear. Google started setting Meta descriptions and titles automatically based on the search queries based on the content flow in the webpage.

Actually its leads to a problem like keyword stuffing. There are always been some rules for everything in SEO. In on page optimization, meta title and descriptions should be related to users query with some limitations like title should be 50 to 60 chars and description should be 150 to 160 chars. It comes in neat manner that give some short information about that page. If you wont follow this rule Google will drop down your rank hugely day by day and start showing random descriptions.
