Google no More Interested in Page Rank (PR)!!!

Hi,

Some of my friends told me that PR is no more Important for google now!
The Rankings in Search Engines will depend upon the backlinks only.. and not the PR of the site!
Is that the reason Google has not updated the PRs of the websites since so long?
So, is the PR game over?

its have been around since late 09 that google wouldent care about pagerank anymore.

I have 2 website in same niche.

1. Has a PR of 3, and rank in Top 3 on most keywords.
2. Has a PR of 4, and is not ranking good at all.

So, you see.
 
do you have same content on the sites? BECAUSE i think content weighs mutch more then pagerank

Honestly PR is overated... its a good selling point I guess, but id take a site with more backlinks by the thousands... any day
 
Actually, they won't removed it, however, just want to showing to people shouldn't focus on it.
 
good keyword ranking = matching keyword to title tag, matching keyword to domain name (and age of domain), activity (i.e commenting/discussion by visitors) & backlinks
 
does this mean that backlinking to high pr sites is overrated?? quantity over quality?
 
PR is just a factor in the serps position algorithm. Google is adding more and more factors.
 
maybe it doesn't affect on the ranking, but it sure affect crawling.
 
pr and dmoz absolutely not important at all. go and read some very old google blog.
 
this probably is true. some small sites with pr0 can beat higher pr in serp, that's what i noticed
 
Isn't PR just the reflection of the rank of your page depending on how many backlinks you have? It never made a difference, it just shows where you stand with google in terms of authority and backlinks, pr in and of itself never did anything.
