Hi guys,

The website I'm working on has been accepted into Google News, I was going to work on it for 6 months then apply but I thought I may aswel do it now and if I get declined I may get pointers for when I apply later. Google approved it within a day or two and now it has just started getting added to news SERPS.

Anyone got any pointers on how to make the most out of it? It's a gambling related news website and appears at the minute "Neutral" and only runs Adsense. I got approved yesterday and I've already seen a large increase in traffic.

Working on a website right now, which will hopefully pass Google News test. Could you PM me the link of your website so I could get a feel for this? Thanks!

Gambling related news and adsense ?

Sounds strange for me too :/

With adsense you'll convert only fraction of the traffic, because the ads will be shown only to those visitors whose country is in the "gambling white list".

With bookmakers/casinos you'll have a problem as well. You cant link to gambling sites and use adsense, this is against adsense TOS as far as I remember. Additionally, its probably going to be hard to get sign-ups from news type of website.

Try clickbank?

Question I have is, what did you do to get into Google News? How many posts over how long a period of time? Was it rewritten content or new content? Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well. These are the usual guidelines to get into G news:

  • A site that's dedicated to news only... i.e. it is very hard to get articles from your blog/news section of your website included into G news
  • Have multiple authors
  • Correct sitemap structure for G to easily index
  • Static URLs that don't change or redirect over time
  • Content in plain HTML

....but it would be good to hear any additional tips from OP.
