I too believe that Google News site is not indexing anymore.
As we speak, this. Dude is still using Google news to index his backlinks and parasites.

Check your domain's access_log file for mentions of Googlebot, then check the IP it's coming from to make sure its legit. It's usually 66.249.*.* but some other ranges are detailed here: https://developers.google.com/static/search/apis/ipranges/googlebot.json
If you're using cpanel you can get access_log files from Metrics > Raw Access

Why?
Everything ingenious is simple.
You can index using Google API
But backlinks really require a little brain work and a little more hand work.
There is no secret - backlinks are indexed by redirection via Google API.
You must create a page on your site that redirects to the backlink. Then send this page for indexing through the Google Search console or use a service that will take over this work. It is advisable to create such pages on a website other than the one you are trying to promote. Buy a separate domain or several for this. The indexing process may take from several hours to several days.
That's how it works.
But it’s important to remember that a lot depends on the quality of the links. If you try to index outright garbage, you will be disappointed.

It's possible that your backlinks aren't getting indexed due to low-quality sites, crawlability issues, or Google News guidelines. Double-check your backlink implementation and consider reaching out to Google for help.

Try other ways to get your links out there, and make sure your content is top-notch. sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error to get noticed
