Google: New search layout -> no more left menu

I've noticed that the google search layout now has removed the left menu, and when comprared with Bing layout, they both look very similar - minus the Bing's second far right menu aka social results. Did they try to catch up with Bing or something?

Will appear again, but imo theres no need to open a thread about this.

OP, did you say catching up to bing?

Have you not used google long enough to remember before the left bar? It was put like a year to three ago, wasn't it?
 
I prefer them both (I think though that a change is needed once in a while)

Actually i still have the old menu to the left, cleaned cache and still.. :)
 
Use English as language and you should see the new layout.

If I use a US-based IP, I've got the new layout but still the old layout when I'm using my local IP.
