Local business owners can list their brick and mortar store on Google's directory for local businesses for free. Each local biz must submit the physical location with contact details and they will receive a verify code sent to the physical address within 2 weeks. If it is setup correctly and optimized for search engines, a specific site in a specific category can appear in the 3-pack on the g search engine.

You have to register at https://www.google.com/business/

For Optimizing Google My Business, use
- Niche-Specific Business Directories and Local Directories (Keep NAP - Name, address, phone number the same)
- Google Post (make it conversational and use keywords in it)
- Use all the features provided by GMB (from business description to categories and additional categories)
- Web 2.0 article submissions with link to your GMB
- Try to increase CTR through real interactions.
